What Do You Do When Your Crush Is Dating Your Friend?
It's an awful feeling to see your crush dating someone else, especially when that is a friend or a relative of yours. It can hurt to see them having fun together, when you wish that you were there instead. It may be difficult to control your feelings when you see this. Unfortunately, sometimes this happens and things just don't go your way. Here's how to cope with it if your crush is involved with somebody else.
Verify Your Information
You may have heard through the grapevine that your crush is going out with one of your friends, but is it really true? Sometimes rumors can get started that aren't correct. Before you worry too much about this, verify your information by going directly to the source. Ask your friend or your crush about what's happening. You may not have anything to worry about.
Is It Serious?
Ask your friend for more information. This may just be a one-time fling, in which case you don't need to do anything else. If they've just gone out together once, then you can simply wait a couple of weeks to see if it develops any further. On the other hand, if they have gone out several times together, or have already decided to be boyfriend and girlfriend, then you know it's more serious.
If Your Crush is Taken, Don't Get Depressed
If you find that your crush really is dating your friend and they are more serious about it, then you are sure to be upset about it. Don't let it make you depressed, though. Remember that even if you were the one dating your crush, it probably wouldn't last more than a few weeks or months. Their relationship probably won't either, and you have plenty of other people to choose from, too.
Avoid Seeing Them Together
The part that hurts the most is when you are somewhere and see your friend and your crush having a good time together, laughing and being affectionate. You can spare yourself some pain by trying to avoid situations where this could happen. You don't need to avoid them both individually - the worst part is when they're together. If you do encounter them, you'll need to take a deep breath, and maintain control until you can leave.
Spend Time With Other Friends
Your other friends can be a great source of support for you at a time like this. If you have a particularly good friend, you may want to tell them how you feel about the situation, if you're certain they will keep your secret. Even if you choose not to share your feelings with anybody else, hanging out with friends can help you feel happier about life.
Get Involved and Meet New People
There is nothing that will help you get over your crush faster than meeting somebody new you'd like to go out with. A great way to do this is to get involved with new activities where the type of people you like tend to hang out. Get out there and meet new people. You're sure to find somebody for you
