Make An Impression With Your Dating Profile Tagline

It might seem trite at first; a formality you skip over when building your dating site profile. You might be eager to see what singles the service matches you up with, so you overlook your personal message altogether, or write something trivial or downright silly, and forget about it. However, the personal message on your profile can make or break your online meet market persona.

Consider sites and apps where the only information potential hookups are confronted with is your headshot, age and a short message you’ve added. If you don’t want to be judged solely on your main pic, then you better craft a convincing message, or you'll be sideswiped, X'd out, or thumbs-downed into dating oblivion.

Convincing messages - keep ‘em short, but not of haiku cheesiness length. For example, "Live, Love Learn," might seem inoffensive enough, but it doesn’t say anything about you, except maybe that you enjoy fortune cookies.

If you just can't think of anything witty and cute to say, fear not. Someone smarter and more creative than you has already said it. Use a good quote that sums up a lot of what you do, how you feel or what you're looking for in life while honestly addressing what you're doing there in the first place. For example: "If you can't handle me at my worst, then you sure as hell don’t deserve me at my best. – Marilyn Monroe"

A simplified list can often do the trick, but avoid over-listing, which ends up boring hopeful hotties. Try something like: "Paper napkin origami. Kirk over Picard. Three A.M. soccer shootouts. Cheap wine and real Champagne." Besides, with the abundance of social networking and dating profiles out there, chances are he or she will be able to find out more about your likes and dislikes on the web, or, if cyberspace's dating planets align for you — find out more about you in person.
